• Calcium fluoride (CaF2) is a crystal with excellent transmission characteristics in a wide wavelength range from ultraviolet (200 nm) to near-infrared (8 μm). This plano-convex lens uses CaF2.
• Uses CaF2 for the ultraviolet to infrared region with fewer impurities and crystal defects and higher transmission characteristics in the ultraviolet region.
• CaF2 is more durable against moisture than other crystals and can be handled in the same way as ordinary optical elements.
• Since CaF2 crystals are isotropic, birefringence (polarization property) does not occur.
• * CaF2 crystals may crack due to sudden temperature changes or impact.
• * CaF2 has low hardness and scratches when in contact with glass or metal.
• * Be careful when handling the device.
• * The surface is not coated with an anti-reflection film.
• * The transmittance is about 94% due to the loss caused by surface reflection (3% per surface).
