• Quartz glass absorbs water (OH groups) at wavelengths of 1.4 μm, 2.2 μm, and 2.7 μm.
• Anhydrous synthetic quartz has eliminated the absorption of water in the infrared region by a special manufacturing method that does not bind water molecules to glass molecules.
• Can be used as a window in the infrared range from visible to 3 μm.
• The optical and physical properties other than infrared absorption are the same as those of ordinary synthetic quartz.
• Because of its high rigidity and stability, it can also be used as a window in vacuum or high-pressure containers.
• Intense ultraviolet light causes fluorescence.
• * Use ultraviolet/infrared CaF2 window (OPCF) or synthetic quartz substrate for excimer laser (OPSQK) for external use.
• * The infrared window plate is not coated with an anti-reflection film.
• * The transmittance is about 94% due to the loss caused by surface reflection (3% per surface).
• * Reflected and transmitted wavefronts are not guaranteed for anhydrous synthetic quartz windows.
