SKF Non Contact Voltage Detector TKED 1
SKF TKED1 Non-Contact Electrical Discharge Detector. (EDD Pen). Electrical erosion, lubricant degradation and bearing failure are often caused by electrical discharges as a result of motor shaft voltages discharging through a bearing. The TKED1 has been uniquely and specifically designed to detect these discharges safely, protecting the user whilst a motor or machinery is in motion. No special training is needed to use the detector and no touching of machinery is required. The EDD pen comes with an LED back lit screen which assists users in dark environments, it also features an antenna and ergonomic grip. Capable of detecting discharges on a time base of 10 seconds, 30 seconds or indefinite, this device can significantly prevent unplanned machinery downtime. How do non-contact voltage testers work?. Also known as a voltage detector, voltage tester pens, sensors or test pens. They allow the user to test electrical conductors without touching them. Non-contact testers are the safest and easiest way to detect electric fields or voltage. Voltage testers utilise what is called capacitive coupling, the user holding the instrument provides a ground reference. The tester then detects changing electric field around the object or objects conducting an AC current. (Alternating current) Simply put, the user and the tester pen when near the electrical conductor will cause a small current to flow through the tester from the source, this is how it detects AC voltage.
