• PEEK boasts the highest level of heat resistance among high-performance plastics. In particular, it has excellent thermal stability as it maintains almost the same strength as the initial state even when used at 260°C for 5,000 hours. It is also resistant to bending and compressive stresses, making it ideal for use in environments requiring stability. In addition, PEEK is highly resistant to various organic solvents, oils, weak acids and alkalis. This makes it possible to maintain strength over a wide temperature range and under solution concentration conditions. In addition, it has been proven that discoloration, swelling and cracking do not occur easily.
• PEEK has a low coefficient of linear expansion (CLTE) and provides stable dimensional accuracy up to 150°C near the glass transition. It also has excellent rigidity and creep resistance to withstand high loads, and maintains stable dimensions for a long time. With an extremely low water absorption rate of 0.03%, it has excellent resistance to seawater and steam, and does not hydrolyze even in hot and humid environments.
• PEEK can withstand more than 1,500 steam sterilizations (autoclaves) at 134°C. Its chemically stable molecular structure provides the highest level of radiation resistance among thermoplastics. It can be used without embrittlement or deterioration even in high dose gamma radiation environment.
• PEEK is a high-purity material that contains very little volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and emits very little gas. This characteristic makes it safe to use in vacuum environments such as aerospace. In addition, the contamination of metal ions is very low, making it suitable for precision applications.
• All TECAPEEK products comply with the RoHS Directive (2011/65/EU: Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment), and are made of materials that are considered for environmental and safety standards.
