- Lots of rotors: More rotors than the 5424R, from 4 to 6, including a 5.0 mL tube rotor and a swing rotor for PCR tubes.
- Better compatibility: The air-cooled centrifuge 5425 and the cooled centrifuge 5425R share the same rotor.
- Improved throughput: Maximum volume per tube increased from 2 mL to 5 mL.
