• What do the TeSys Electromagnetic Contactor Usage Categories AC1 and AC3 mean?
• The electromagnetic contactor usage category determines current generation and interruption values based on the Type of load being controlled and operating cycle conditions. AC-1: Applicable to all AC devices with a power factor of 0.95 or higher. Examples of use: resistive loads, heaters, power distribution, etc. AC-3: Applicable to squirrel-cage three-phase induction motors where damage occurs during motor motion. Examples of use: all cage three-phase induction motors, elevators, escalators, conveyors, bucket elevators, compressors, pumps, mixers, air conditioning units, etc.
