• RS Pro IEC Type K Exposed Junction Point Fast Response Thermocouple with Molded Miniature Plug
• RS Pro Series Type K Thermocouple Temperature Sensor conforming to IEC-584-3 standard with Class 1 tolerance. These thermocouple temperature sensors have weld tip exposed contacts with short response times. The two twisted leads are durable Teflon PFA insulated and terminated at one end with a green molded miniature flat pin plug in IEC compliant color code. Molded plugs have a robust structure and waterproof termination for quick and easy connection.
• How a Thermocouple Works A thermocouple is a sensor used to measure temperature in a variety of different processes, and consists of two different metal wirelegs joined at the ends to form two contacts. Thermal contacts (temperature measurement contacts) are connected to the body to be measured. Cold contacts (reference contacts) are connected to bodies of known temperature. When a temperature measuring contact is placed on a heat source, a voltage difference or potential difference occurs between the contact and the reference contact. This voltage is converted to a temperature measurement using the thermocouple reference table. This process is also known as the Seebeck effect.
• Weld tip exposed contacts
• Weld exposed contacts are where the thermocouple wires are welded together and not covered by an external sheath. Both ends of this wire are inserted directly into the process. This means that the thermocouple has a high sensitivity and a short response time. Weld tip exposed contacts are susceptible to corrosion, so it is recommended to measure the temperature of non-corrosive flowing or stationary gas.
