• If you do not plug in or out for a long time, the gap between the outlet and the plug may become dusty and humid. If a voltage is applied in this state, a leakage current may flow between the blades of the plug through the surface of the outlet, causing a small spark discharge. As a result, the surface deteriorates, forming carbonized conductive paths (tracks) and causing dielectric breakdown. This phenomenon is called tracking. As a result, a flame may be generated suddenly from the space between the plug and the outlet, which may cause a fire.
