Single Parameter(s) Water Hardness Test Strip, max. measurement 500ppm - 50 strips CZHT100
Colour chart. Water Hardness Test Strips. From Instruments Direct, a pack of individual hardness test strips designed for measuring the calcium and magnesium mineral levels in the water. The water hardness test strips are made from a thin plastic material and a tip treated with a chemical that changes colour when immersed in water. These testing strips are easy to use and provide accurate results within 10 seconds. What is water hardness?. The water in an area can be described as soft, moderately soft, slightly hard, moderately hard, hard or very hard. The hardness category you have will depend largely on the geology of the ground below you. Areas with non-porous rock (such as granite) generally have soft water. This is because rainwater cannot penetrate the rock and the water stays soft. Likewise, areas with porous rock (such as limestone or chalk) generally have hard water. This is because the water picks up particles of magnesium and calcium which remain in the water all the way through the treatment process. Water hardness is measured by the number or of mineral deposits in your water in ppm (Parts per Million). A soft water area would have under 60 ppm while a hard water area would see readings of 180 ppm plus. The official measurement is ppm in a litre of water. How to use the test strip. Take a single testing strip and hold the test end under in a sample or a stream of running water Remove the strip from the sample or running water and carefully shake off any excess liquid. Expose the indicator tip to the air and wait for a few seconds for it to change colour Compare the test tip with the supplied colour chart. The full range scale 0, 50, 125, 250 and 500 ppm (soft – hard- very hard). Features and Benefits. Accurate, rapid results Easy and simple to use Dip and read in seconds Supplied in a re-sealable bag 50 disposable single-use strips. Applications. Detecting the water hardness levels in your area is extremely useful. If you happen to work or reside in a hard water area you may need to take extra care of domestic, commercial and industrial equipment and machinery. Hard water deposits known as limescale can build up on the elements, drums and moving parts, which in time can cause damage, costly repairs and eventually failure. The addition of anti-limescale cleaners can help slow down this process. Some of the more common areas to watch are. Laundrettes – washing machines and steam irons and presses Commercial kitchens – kettles and dishwashers Aquariums - limescale on pumps, filters and tubing

Single Parameter(s) pH pH Test Strip, max. measurement 2.5pH CZ-025
Colour chart. pH Indicator Strips. From Instruments Direct, a selection of individual pH test strips designed for measuring how acidic or alkaline a sample or solution is. The pH test strips feature a non-bleed, padded paper test tip attached to a vinyl wand. These testing strips are easy to use and provide accurate results in a few seconds. What is pH?. The pH scale is an internationally recognisable scale that is used to indicate the acidity or alkalinity of a liquid or sample. Chemicals, liquids and samples are often classed as being acidic, basic or neutral on a scale of 0 pH to 14 pH. Low pH values are considered acidic, higher pH values are called basic and values around the 7 mark is referred to as neutral. 0 : very acidic (hydrochloric acid) 7 : neutral (pure water) 14 : strong alkali (sodium hydroxide). How to use the test strip. Take a single-use testing strip and briefly dip the end into the sample or solution to be tested for a few seconds Remove the test strip from the solution and carefully shake off any excess liquid. Compare the test strip with the supplied colour chart Do not allow the strip to dry out before colour matching Full range pH testing 0.2pH to 14pH. Features and Benefits. Accurate, rapid results Inexpensive, easy and simple to use Dip and read in seconds Clear visual indication of pH levels Ideal for testing the pH levels in water, urine and saliva Available in different pH ranges. Applications. pH measurement is used in nearly all industries that deal with water or chemicals. Tough laws will govern how factories, plants and warehouses deal with wastewater. Completing regular pH tests are vital for the health and safety of employees, the general public and the environment. Although pH won ‘t necessarily indicate a particular type of pollution is present, a pH indication level can help with the management of potentially high or low reading. Some typical applications include. Agriculture Chemical industries Manufacturing Hospitals and laboratories Calibration testing Aquariums. Testing ranges available. RS part number ; 312-4351 312-4351 0 to 2.5 pH RS part number ; 312-4367 312-4367 3 to 6 pH RS part number ; 312-4373 312-4373 5 to 9 pH RS part number ; 312-4389 312-4389 10 to 13 pH RS part number ; 261-8603 261-8603 1 to 14 pH
