Features

  • 3M™ Cubitron™ II Depressed Center Grinding Wheel. 3M™ Cubitron™ II Grinding disc is constructed using 3M Precision Shaped Ceramic Grain. It is engineered to surpass conventional discs in both performance and longevity. They are specially put together for use on metals. Outstanding Cutting Performance. The Cubitron™ II disc contains 3M Precision Shaped Grain which forms into triangularly shaped grains and electrostatically positioned onto the backing. The grains then act as individual cutting tools, reducing metal discolouration with extreme efficiency. The disc is worn evenly and continuously self sharpens until the points break off. This reduces the heat build-up due to friction and extends the life of the disc. Using the 3M™ Cubitron™ II grinding wheel has a depressed centre that allows grinding at any angle without damaging the surrounding area. A resin bonded construction and 7 mm thick these discs can be used for removing welds from internal angles. Features and Benefits. Engineered to cut faster and last longer than competitive ceramic products 3M Precision Shaped Grain self-sharpens runs cool and optimises mineral breakdown for extra-long life Rigid, reinforced resin-bonded wheel slices through almost all materials including stainless steel, mild steel, and aerospace alloys The wheel must have a maximum operating speed greater than or equal to the maximum speed of the power tool used The discs must be used with a disc guard, which fits the size of the disc. Typical Applications. These grinding discs are great for weld removals, grinding and blending large and small metal areas. This could occur in industries such as farm and construction, automotive, ship and boat building, metal fabrication. FAQ's. Is there a difference between cutting and grinding discs?. Yes, the thickness of the discs are different, with cutting discs being thinner than grinding discs. Cuttings generally don't have adequate lateral strength for side grinding. Can you use metal cutting discs on masonry applications?. No, masonry applications would need a separate disc. Metals cutting discs are usually made from aluminium oxide particles, while masonry cutting discs are made from silicon carbide.
