- These reactors can also be used as gas generators.
- For example, to generate ethylene gas, add ethyl alcohol to the drop funnel and concentrated sulfuric acid to the flask. When the flask is heated to 180°C, add ethyl alcohol slowly.
- Unreacted alcohol and small amounts of ethyl alcohol resulting from side reactions can be removed with a cooler.
