General Purpose Probe (Minerally Insulated). A 3mm diameter mineral insulated probe 100mm long with a stainless steel sheath. Insertion Needle Probe. A probe with a sharpened tip that may be used to measure internal temperature of semi-solids. Surface Probe (Band). This probe provides a fast response for surface temperature measurement using a thin stainless steel band for contacting the surface. These surface probes have a thin metal disc giving a low thermal mass which provides for a fast response The probes feature a sprung draught shield which also serves to protect the tip when not in use
