- The RL78 is Renesas Electronics ’ next-generation microcontroller family that combines advanced features of both the 78 K and R8C families for low power consumption (66 μA/MHz) and high performance (41 DMIPS @ 32 MHz). The RL78 is based on the analog rich 16 bit CISC architecture. The platform lineup includes general-purpose LCDs and ASSPs with lighting and on-board microcontrollers. Designed for ultra-low power applications, the RL78 enables you to build compact, energy-efficient systems at low cost. The RL78/G14 microcontroller supports high-precision (± 1%) on-chip oscillators that deliver the standard on-chip features of the RL78/G13, including 32 MHz CPU operation, as well as multiplication, division, and sum-of-products operations that enable faster processing than the RL78/G13. It also supports a variety of R8C family features, such as RD/RG/RJ timers, data transfer controllers, and event link controllers, which are well known for their tracking capabilities, helping to reduce the total cost, power consumption, and miniaturization of systems.
