• 3M 3000 Series 2.54 x 2.54 mm Cable Mounted IDC Socket Connector
• 3000 Series Cable Mounted Industry Standard IDC Ribbon Cable Socket Connector has a pitch of 2.54 x 2.54 mm. This IDC cable socket supports 26 to 28 AWG single wire or stranded 1.27 mm pitch flat ribbon cable/discrete wire. IDC contacts provide a quick and easy interconnection system for large numbers of terminations without the need for prior cable preparation and insulation debonding. These contacts are made of beryllium copper and have high corrosion resistance, excellent wear resistance, and better conductivity than brass and bronze. The housing of the 3000 series IDC socket provides dual-slot military polarization and fits precisely with the header connector. The 3000 series IDC socket design is based on MIL and IEC standards. The 3000 Series Ribbon Cable Socket has a positive-locking metal "J" clip to hold the connector cover securely. There is transfer adhesive on top of this cover to hold the cover on the ribbon cable to align the connector and cable exactly. This feature allows a large number of terminations to be manufactured. The pull-tab, sold separately, attaches to the socket using a strip of adhesive. This pull tab reduces the load on the end of the cable when the socket connector is removed from the engaged header. Keying plugs can also be used and are connected to socket contacts to prevent male pins from being inserted.
