Features

  • RS Pro Natural Nylon 66 Solid Plastic Sheets
  • From RS Pro a range of high-quality natural colored Nylon 66 solid plastic sheets available ina range of sizes and thicknesses
  • What are Solid Plastic Sheets
  • Solid plastic sheets are sheets of strong durable plastic or plastic-like materials which are cut to size and sold ina wide range of sizes and thicknesses
  • These hard plastic sheets, once purchased, can then be cut or machined into components for the fabrication of products for use ina wide range of industries
  • Different plastics have different properties which lend them for use in specific applications
  • What is Nylon 66
  • Nylon 66 is also known as Polyamide 66 or PA 66 and is a semi-crystalline engineering plastic
  • This plastic is both hard and rigid with good abrasive and wear resistance along with low frictional properties
  • It also has good thermal dimensional stability which is the degree to which a material maintains its original dimensions when subjected to changes in temperature and humidity
  • This Nylon 66 plastic also features good slide and wear properties, components made from this solid plastic sheet slide very easily and don't stick or lock up
  • This is an essential quality when this material is used in delicate or fine instruments where smooth Operation is essential as well as in gears and bearings Features and Benefits Good rigidity and hardness Good slide and low frictional properties Good abrasion and impact resistance Outstanding wear resistance Resistant to many chemicals, oils, gases and fuels Very good temperature resistance Good thermal dimensional stability Electrically insulating Weldable and bonded Uses: Nylon 66 is used ina wide variety of industries due to its unique properties. These industries include electronics, automotive, food, textiles, agriculture and architecture, packaging and paper, aircraft and aerospace. Nylon 66 has excellent wear resistance, good sliding and friction properties, making it ideal for a wide range of applications, including:
  • Gear Wheel and Cam Disk Friction Strip and Bearing Bush and Spindle Nut Piston Guide Caster Impact Plate and Damping Plate Conveyor Screw Rope Pulley Plug Parts
  • Questions and Answers
  • What tools can I use to cut this plastic sheet? The choice of tool used to cut this plastic depends on the thickness of the sheet being cut. Thin sheets of plastic can be cut using a sharp utility knife. Thick sheets can be cut using various types of saws, such as fine-bladed handsaws, bow saws, electric table saws, band saws, round saws, and jigsaws. The upper teeth of the saw blade should be sharpened and evenly spaced in height and shape to prevent cracks and chips in the plastic. "No-melt" blades are recommended because friction from sawing can cause the blades to become hot and melt plastic. If you are using regular blades, it is recommended that you allow time between cuts to cool the blades.
